Why You Should Become a Member of the United States Mine Rescue Association
 | Online Since 1995 |
| |
The United States Mine Rescue Association has become the largest mine rescue organization in the world. A long-time advocate for improved mine rescue training, the association membership has grown to more than 3,200. Our membership currently represents 50 US states and territories and 73 foreign nations.
Unlike other organizations of this type, the USMRA places emphasis on the individuals which make up mine rescue teams rather than catering to their employers and service company representatives. The USMRA is not affiliated with any state agency or the federal government. Our unbiased approach to the subject of emergency preparedness and response has allowed us to provide a more pure overview of the state of mine rescue in the United States as well as the world.
Membership in the USMRA has been and will continue to be free-of-charge for all persons interested in emergency response and training.
Through our web site at usmra.com, here are some of the features we offer: |

 | Mining News
Through the Mine Rescue Group at Yahoo, the USMRA distributes “as-it-happens” news pertaining to mining. Accidents, disasters, regulation updates, and technological improvements are just several of the types of news articles you can receive. This group was created in 2001, and its membership has grown to more than 770 members. This group, which is free to join, has more members than any other in its category - Science - Engineering - Mining. |
 |
 | Safety Training Material Repository
In January 2008, the USMRA embarked on a bold initiative to benefit all persons engaged in mine safety training. With the help of members and friends of the association, we’ve assembled thousands of files in more than 220 categories that you can use in your training programs. Included in the repository are PowerPoint Presentations, videos, MP3s, photos, and a huge collection of MS Word® and Adobe PDF® reference documents. |
 |
 | Streaming Media Video Library
Great place to hang out when you have a few weeks with nothing to do. USMRA's Streaming Media Video Library, consisting of hundreds of videos, makes it easy to view and download your favorite safety videos and movies. This library is in addition to what we have in the Training Material Repository where you can search for videos by category.

 | The USMRA is on Facebook
Having joined in late December 2009, the USMRA's presence on Facebook opens up additional avenues for the membership to communicate with
one another. We've taken advantage of this free service to provide members an opportunity to post comments, links, photos, videos
and even engage in robust discussions about the state of mine rescue.
It's anticipated that as more sign up, Facebook will add yet another
dimension for the USMRA, the largest and most popular organization of this type in the world. You're all invited
to Become a Fan of the USMRA
on Facebook!

The answer to questions as to how or why the USMRA first started can be found through a Google search for mine rescue resources. The USMRA
recognized early on that mine rescuers needed more than what has been available and has strived to provide the necessary resources to team members everywhere to enable their success.
